Captioning, of course, is the process of converting audio content such as dialogue, sound effects and music description into text, and displaying that text on a screen.

We will send you a detailed questionnaire to find out as much about you and your performance space as possible. Fill it out and we'll set up a call to and send over a little easy reading with equipment recommendations.
You send us the script in an editable format, such as .pdf or .doc. We have converted some pretty nasty photocopies of photocopies of a dog-eared paper script into sweet, sweet captions, but the cleaner the script, the less time we waste on having to clean it up. Do you only have a scan of a play hand-scribbled onto a napkin, then scanned into your computer via an iPhone 3s camera? We will make it happen, but we might have to charge you an additional fee.
Once rehearsals are underway, we'll need archival video and audio recordings (of two different performances) of your production, plus any cuts or changes you've made to the script. We are not looking for Marti Scorsese-level filmmaking, here; just your usual camcorder-in-the-back-of-the-house archival will do for video. Sending us an audio recording of another night (you could use your mobile) allows us to try to figure out whether the liberties the lead actor makes with the lines are his personal…adjustments, or actual changes made to the script. The more data we have up front the fewer annoying emails your and your stage manager will get from us.
We send you back artfully designed and customized captions that you can run for a weekend, a week, or every performance of the production, on any display you choose. We have a series of videos and equipment list to help you learn how easy it is to run these captions.
